Many types of food naturally release moisture, especially when room-temperature goods are brought into the cooler environment. This increases the humidity inside the cold room and contributes to condensation.
Desiccant Dehumidifiers Are an Ideal Solution
Conventional condensation dehumidifiers are not suitable for colder environments due to the risk of ice formation and work better at room temperature. Desiccant dehumidifiers use a different technology that is more effective in cool and cold environments, down to -20 degrees. These dehumidifiers maintain the right humidity level and prevent condensation, which can eventually lead to microbial growth - making them perfect for ensuring high hygiene standards in cold rooms, slaughterhouses, and refrigerated storage facilities.
In spaces where both humidity and temperature need to be controlled, it is recommended to install the desiccant dehumidifier outside the room and channel the moist air to the machine using a process air inlet and a duct. The dry air returned to the cold space can be directed through a longer dry air duct to minimize additional heat transfer.
